Tech Tips

Disabling the Charms Bar in Windows 8.1
Some Windows 8 users may want to keep the Charms Bar but limit the chances of accidentally triggering it with the mouse. Microsoft provides an option to disable the hot corner Charms Bar trigger when you move your mouse cursor into the top-right corner of your screen. Right-click on the Taskbar, and choose Properties. In the Taskbar and Navigation Properties window, click on the Navigation tab and uncheck the box labeled “When I point to the upper-right corner, show the charms. You’ll notice that the Charms Bar no longer appears but you can still access it by moving your mouse to the lower-right corner of the screen.

Old Canvas Courses to Being Deleted This Semester

District Office Information Technology Services (ITS) is still planning on deleting Spring 14 and older courses. To align with risk assessment processes, ITS will develop an implementation timeline in the near future. Course deletion could begin as early as the end of September or as late as the end of December. As has been previously communicated, please continue to plan for Spring 14 and older courses to be deleted and create course exports of content you do not want to lose. This does not affect “development” courses. Contact your college Canvas support with any questions. Additional communication will be sent via Canvas as the course deletion process develops.
