Designing & Re-evaluating the Syllabus and Course Structure

If you are one of the lucky summer semester teaching staff, more than likely you are already refocusing efforts, designing and reevaluating the syllabus and course structure for your courses beginning next week. Maybe you are ahead of the game and are reviewing your syllabus structure, course design and communication policies for fall, while the spring semester is still fresh in your mind? Regardless of the motivation, a higher level review of how your syllabus is designed may be in order. The two articles in this weeks CTL newsletter discuss creating a more Learner-Centered approach, as well as designing your syllabus to be utilized as resource within your course. How we communicate through the syllabus sets the tone for the overall class, so careful consideration while crafting this document, this contract with your students, will put the right foot forward and set your course down a positive pathway. As always, in the CTL we are here to assist you if you are in need of help with course design! Our extended summer hours are 7:00 am - 6:00 pm.
