Hidden Talent at PVCC

Recognizing and showcasing an employee who has a hidden talent: Sam Fraulino

This particular talented fellow may be well known for his artwork here at PVCC and his work may not be necessarily a “Hidden Talent.” However, I bet you haven’t seen his studio and the unique area that he works in.

Questions & Answers from Sam:
  1. How long have you had this hidden talent? I have been a painter my entire life, I started when I was able to pick up a crayon. I have worked in watercolors and ink for over 40 years.
  2. When did you know that you liked this hidden talent? I realized it when I made people smile and talk about my drawings. I don't see the world the same as others, I see shapes and vivid colors that formulate abstract patterns, so I paint what I see most of the time. I do commercial graphic design and visual design instructionally, but abstract art/painting is my true love.
  3. Did you take Art classes here at PVCC? I didn't not take studio classes here, I am self, taught and spent over 40 years learning watercolor/design on my own, however PVCC was intricate in my growth as an artist and I took many Art History courses from the great Dr. Gene Rister. He was my inspiration and my drive to continue art as a career.
  4. Have you thought of teaching a class? Yes, I always think about teaching a design course or graphic illustration. Teaching watercolor and working with students on abstract ideas and painting would be a blast.

Who knew? If you or an employee you know here at PVCC has a hidden talent, please email Erin at: erin.cooper@paradisevalley.edu with a name, email, and talent.

Canvas Corner

Did you know... If you need to update a file, keeping the same name will overwrite the existing file and will update it throughout the course so you do not have to re-link. Also, always a good idea to organize your files into folders with easy-to-identify naming conventions. For example, if you have lecture PowerPoints; create a folder named “Lecture PowerPoints” and name your PowerPoints intuitively, such as “01 – Introduction to Canvas Part 1” or “02 – Introduction to Canvas Part 2”. Click here for more information about Files.
