PVCC Outstanding Adjunct Faculty

Tracy Tahiri is a Spanish Instructor and has been teaching at MCCCD since receiving her Masters of Art degree in Spanish at ASU in 1990. This is Tahiri’s fourth year teaching at PVCC and she enjoys imparting her love for the language and its culture to her students, as she did previously at Río Salado, MCC, and CGCC. As an undergraduate, she spent a year studying in Madrid, Spain. This experience, as well as her many travels to Hispanic countries, has greatly influenced her desire to teach.

Tahiri is very committed to her students and strives to reach everyone of them through a multitude of multi sensory activities. Good teaching moments are those that allow Tahiri to feel that she inspires her students. One such experience that stands out is when a student came back the following year to tell her in person how much he loved her class and appreciated her style of teaching. He was a high school dropout and had just started attending PVCC. To hear how this student was inspired to continue his studies in Spanish and eventually become a social worker made her feel like she made a difference.

That is why she is a teacher; to motivate and to inspire her students to achieve their goals and to believe in themselves.
